In the mid 1970’s trade was opened with China under the Nixon presidency. Soon after this was when the modern Chinese sculpture era began. For almost 20 years the Peking and Aubusson designs were the best sellers in rugs.

Peking rugs are priced from $5000 and up.  They are very expensive but a great investment if you are lucky enough to run across an original.  Modern reproductions are less expensive but are not investment material.  The reproductions of the Peking rugs are a great home décor choice.  You will brighten any room up with a Peking rug.
